ROBIN SPICE IS STARRING IN...
Pyrford Little Theatre present the Last Tango in Whitby by Mike Harding
8th - 10th May 2008 at Rhoda McGaw Theatre at 7.45pm
For Pat, recently widowed, this year's charabanc trip to Whitby is tinged with sadness. She is determined to enjoy herself, however, in the company of other old friends - warm, kind-hearted Jimmy and Joan; gentle, innocent Jessie; Maureen; even garrulous, know-it-all Henry and interfering, out-spoken Kathleen. The holiday gets off to a lively start as Phil and Edna, "The Shangri-Las", provide evening entertainment in the form of old-time dancing. Phil, too, is trying to enjoy himself, despite being trapped in a dead, loveless marriage, and it is during their first dance together that he and Pat feel the unexpected spark of mutual attraction. To the disapproval of friends and family, they decide to seize the second chance and start a new life together. Mike Harding's poignant and funny play was premiered at the Nottingham Playhouse in 1990, followed by a successful tour.

Woodbank Spring Fair
Many thanks to everyone who gave items for the fair and to all those who came along and spent money. It was great to see so many people there from KMC.
It was a very successful afternoon and we raised £500 double the amount raised at the same event last year. Shirley Chase

Elections at the Church AGM
Dear friends,
At the AGM the church elects its representatives for the year. This year we are looking for the following:
15 Church Council Members
2 People to serve as representatives on the Circuit Youth Committee
2 People to serve as KMC representatives in relation to the Kings House Coffee Shop initiative.
Nomination forms are available today and you are asked to complete these prayerfully.
Please note that election to the Church Council is done be electing individuals to the Council not people who hold roles. It is the responsibility of the Church Council to elect officers e.g. Treasurer and Pastoral Co-ordinator. If no one on the Church Council is prepared to stand for a particular officer's role then the Church Council can co-opt someone onto to the council to undertake that role. Any person so co-opted becomes a member of the Church Council. A person can be nominated for all three types of post if they so wish, however they must be a Church Member.
We also need to appoint the Church Stewards who by their role are automatically members of the Church Council. The number of Church Stewards is at the discretion of the Minister and it is my belief that we should seek to appoint at least five, but preferably six, Stewards. If you are interested in standing please talk to Stephen Gurd. At the present time Shirley Chase, Nigel Roberts and Stephen Gurd have all confirmed that they are happy to continue and I thank them for their support over the last year. Allan Wright who became a steward in March 2008 has also confirmed he is willing to stand.
Please do pray about this, and ask God to show you who he is calling to serve on the Church Council and in the other roles relating to Youth. It would be good if nominations were submitted to Yvette by Wednesday 16th April, as prayerful nomination is more appropriate than seeking “volunteers” on the day.
Finally I would like to record my thanks to Ruth Pugh who is stepping down from Church Council to concentrate on her Local Preacher studies. I am grateful for Ruth's support over the last three years as a Steward.
Rev Nick Oborski,
March 2008
